Alibaba Bans Claude Code Over Serious Security Concerns
Alibaba is banning Claude Code at work from July 10 after security concerns over features that could identify China-linked users. This is bigger than one coding tool. It is about AI trust, control, and risk.
Details:
Alibaba employees are being told to use Qoder, its own coding platform. The issue is not productivity anymore. It is workplace security, compliance, and internal control
The ban comes after developers found Claude Code checking user environments like timezone and proxy signals. Anthropic said this was to stop account abuse and model distillation
Anthropic accused Alibaba of distillation, while Chinese AI firms are moving toward domestic and open-source models like Qwen, DeepSeek, Moonshot, and Zhipu

Meta Eyes $10B Anthropic Deal As Stock Drops Nearly 5 Percent
Meta is reportedly nearing a ~$10B AI compute deal with Anthropic, and the market reacted quickly: META fell nearly 5% after hours as investors questioned the cost of staying in the frontier AI race.
Details:
The deal would give Meta a private Claude cloud instance for internal use and AI agent products, including possible sales, marketing, and token-as-a-service layers
Meta has reportedly signed 5GW+ of cloud and colocation capacity this year, with 2027 capex expected to rise sharply across training, recommendations, and compute deals
Anthropic is also exploring a Samsung custom AI chip. Nothing is final yet, but Samsung’s 2nm, packaging, and HBM stack could help it answer OpenAI’s Jalapeño chip
