Amazon and Anthropic Strike a Massive $100B AWS AI Agreement

Amazon and Anthropic just signed one of AI’s biggest infrastructure deals yet. Amazon is investing another $5B, while Anthropic commits to spend over $100B on AWS over the next decade to train and run Claude.
Details:
The deal can grow to $25B total from Amazon, including up to $20B more if milestones are met. This latest round builds on Amazon’s earlier $8B investment in Anthropic
In return, Anthropic secures up to 5 gigawatts of compute capacity on AWS, centered on current and future Trainium chips, to power training and inference for its next Claude models
The partnership also makes AWS Anthropic’s primary cloud and training provider, while pushing Claude deeper into AWS for customers, making this both a funding and distribution deal
This is bigger than a funding round. It shows the AI race is about capital, chips, cloud lock-in, and who can secure enough compute to scale rapidly.

Google Races Anthropic to Win the Future of Coding AI

Google’s AI race just got more aggressive. Reports say Sergey Brin is personally pushing DeepMind to help Gemini catch Anthropic on coding, because he sees code as the quickest path to self-improving AI.
Details:
DeepMind has reportedly formed a strike team led by Sebastian Borgeaud, who previously ran pretraining, under CTO Koray Kavukcuoglu and Brin to improve Gemini on long coding tasks
Brin reportedly told staff the bigger prize is AI that can train the next AI, and coding is the capability that gets Gemini there. The push followed internal views that Claude codes better
Google is also pushing internal adoption harder: Gemini engineers reportedly must use Google’s agent tools on complex tasks, with usage tracked on a leaderboard called Jetski
This is bigger than a model race. Google is treating coding agents as the engine for the next AI leap, and it does not want Anthropic leading it.

How to Turn Chrome into an AI Assistant with Gemini

Gemini in Chrome turns AI from a separate chat tool into something that works inside your browser. It can read the tabs you share, compare information, and help you make decisions quicker.
Enter Gemini settings
In Chrome, go to:
Settings > AI Innovations > Gemini in Chrome
This is where you enable the Gemini features for this workflow.
Turn on Gemini features
Enable:
Show Gemini at the top of the browser
Share current tab with Gemini
If you have Google AI Pro, also enable:
Let Gemini browse for-you
Load product pages you want to compare
Open three product tabs in Chrome for the items you want Gemini to review. Choose pages that clearly show:
price
features
key details
Launch Gemini and attach tabs
Tap Gemini at the top of Chrome. Then type @ to attach the tabs you want Gemini to use. This lets Gemini read the exact pages you selected.
Ask Gemini to compare products
Use a prompt like this:
“Compare these three products and tell me which gives best value for the price. Focus on features, cost, and major tradeoffs.”Review Gemini’s recommendation
Gemini will compare the products and suggest the best option. This works even without Google AI Pro, because you are directly sharing the tabs.
Use Chrome automation
If you have AI Pro, ask Gemini to take the next step. Use a prompt like this:
“Find me a cheaper option with similar features and show me best alternative.”Gemini may first show a plan, then use Chrome to complete the browser steps.
Note: This is useful for more than shopping too, like comparing software tools, pricing plans, or service pages.
