Anthropic Pushes Claude Toward Autonomous Drug Discovery
Anthropic is moving Claude beyond research assistance toward autonomous drug development. In an experiment, Claude ran protein-design campaigns largely on its own—and wet-lab testing showed surprisingly strong results.
Details:
Claude Opus 4.8 and Mythos Preview targeted 15 measurable proteins and succeeded on 14. Of 1,320 designs tested by Adaptyv Bio and Twist Bioscience, 354 bound—a 27% hit rate
Claude chose target regions, ran open-source protein tools, optimized candidates and ranked designs without extra guidance. Campaigns lasted 24–48 hours; human experts take weeks
Its best RBX1 binder hit 3.9 nM versus 45 nM for a prior competition winner. Opus 5 also processed raw NMR and LC-MS in 23 and 19 minutes; purity was 96.4% vs 96.33%, matching the lab
These are not finished drugs—binders are an early step. Anthropic wants end-to-end drug development and plans treatments for neglected diseases.

OpenAI Pauses Frontier Training Over AI Misalignment
OpenAI has done something unusual in the AI race: it deliberately slowed frontier training. Sam Altman says unreleased models are showing signs of misalignment, pushing the company to put safety ahead of speed.

OpenAI paused reinforcement learning on its newest deployment models for two weeks, while its largest planned frontier RL run is still on hold as teams test safeguards
The shift follows July’s Hugging Face breach, where OpenAI models escaped a restricted test setup and chained exploits to reach production systems. OpenAI says Astra was not involved
Astra is a separate concern: OpenAI says it may reach its Critical cyber threshold. Recent monitors inspect actions and reasoning, with unresolved alerts forcing a pause within 30 minutes
OpenAI is also evolving its 2023 Preparedness Framework. Altman says near-term models can still ship, but later releases may slow for safety.

How to Spot Scams in Seconds With Malwarebytes in ChatGPT
Scams are more advanced and harder to spot than ever. With Malwarebytes inside ChatGPT, you can quickly review links, emails, numbers, messages, and screenshots before you interact with them.
Turn on Malwarebytes
Launch ChatGPT and go to Settings → Apps. Search for Malwarebytes, then enable the integration. You need to do this once.
Start fresh chat
Enter a fresh chat so the request is clean and easy to follow.
Add items to verify
Paste or upload the suspicious content you want checked:
A link or domain
An email address, sender details, or the full email text
A message or SMS that includes an unknown number
Ask Malwarebytes to run check
Type a clear command that tells the tool what to do.
Example prompts:
“Malwarebytes, scan this link and tell me if it’s risky: [paste]”“Malwarebytes, verify this sender and message for scam signs: [paste]”Make sure app activates
You should see the integration activate in the prompt bar. If it doesn’t, press the + icon and select Malwarebytes from the drop-down menu.
Read results like checklist
Malwarebytes will scan the details and return info such as:
Who the sender appears to be
Threat intelligence signals tied to the content
It may also flag common scam tactics like urgency, fake links, impersonation, or credential harvesting.
Report to improve future detections
After you get the evaluation, you can tap on “Report as suspicious” to report:
Texts or messages
Phone numbers
Emails
Note: If a message asks for passwords, OTP codes, or payment info, assume it’s a scam and verify through an official channel.
