Claude Solves a 25 Year NSA Cryptography Mystery in 30 Minutes

After 25 years of speculation, Anthropic says Claude has explained the origins of mysterious numbers the NSA supplied for widely used digital signature standards. The internal research model did it in under 30 minutes.
Details:
When NIST standardized elliptic curves in 2000, the NSA supplied unexplained seed values. Their origins fueled years of speculation that the curves might conceal weaknesses
Claude reproduced five NIST curve seeds, including P-256, using the 1990s C function lrand48 and 1997–98 Unix timestamps. It also traced the origins of several other seeds and base points
The discovery makes deliberate backdoors less plausible but doesn't rule them out. Anthropic still can't explain some skipped candidate values, four NIST base points or the B-163 seed
Anthropic says no cryptographic weakness was found and no action is needed. Claude solved an origin mystery, not the digital signatures themselves.

North Korea Claims It Successfully Tested an AI Powered Torpedo

North Korea says it tested an AI-assisted torpedo called Zam-2.0 on October 15. Pyongyang claims the weapon uses AI for target detection and guidance, potentially expanding its underwater strike capabilities.
Details:
State media calls Zam-2.0 a high-speed, precision-guided weapon. It says AI assists target detection and guidance, but has not explained the tech or released weapon specifications
Officials say the latest trial validated propulsion upgrades following more than 180 related tests over 5 years. Analysts suspect a supercavitating design, but that remains unconfirmed
The announcement follows submarine-launched cruise missile tests and naval ships. South Korea has not independently confirmed Zam-2.0's claimed AI functions or operational readiness
North Korea's AI claims remain unverified. The test underscores its naval ambitions, but says little about what the weapon can actually do in combat.

How to Make Meta Muse Work Across Your Mac Apps

Meta’s Muse isn’t just another AI chatbot. Its Mac desktop app can work with your files, connect to your favorite apps, and help automate everyday tasks. Here’s how to set it up and get the most out of it.
Download Muse for Mac
Visit the official Muse website, download the Mac desktop app, and install it on your computer.
Sign In and Complete Setup
Open Muse, sign in to your account, and follow the initial setup wizard to configure your desktop experience.
Set Your Mac App Permissions
Review the permissions Muse requests during setup.
Local apps: Decide whether Muse can use apps like Mail, Messages, Notes, and Calendar.
Permission levels: Choose read permission where available, and leave unnecessary permissions disabled.
Connect Your Favorite Apps
Open Settings → Connectors in Muse. Browse the available integrations and connect the services you regularly use, such as Gmail or Notion.
Review Connector Permissions
Before enabling each integration, check exactly what Muse can access.
Start small: Use read permissions whenever possible, especially for Gmail.
Expand carefully: Grant editing or other higher-level permissions when a task requires them.
Give Muse Your First Task
Try a practical task that combines research with organization.
Example prompt:
"I want to sell my old gaming chair. Every morning, check nearby marketplace listings for similar chairs, track their prices, condition, and features in a spreadsheet, and help me create a competitive listing."
Note: Muse can keep working even after you close the app, so regularly review its activity and stop tasks you no longer need.
