SpaceX Officially Acquires Cursor in Massive $60 Billion Deal

SpaceX has officially completed its $60 billion acquisition of Cursor, bringing one of the fastest-growing AI coding platforms into Elon Musk’s expanding AI empire two months after SpaceX’s blockbuster public debut.

Details:

• The deal began with an April partnership and purchase option, became a binding all-stock agreement in June, and closed on August 14. Cursor is wholly owned subsidiary of SpaceX

• Cursor says joining SpaceX gives it use of the world’s largest GPU fleet, helping it train stronger, cheaper models. Grok 4.6 offers an early look at what both teams can build

• SpaceX also rents huge AI compute capacity to Anthropic and Google, while its data-center expansion faces a pollution lawsuit over gas turbines. Cursor adds software and dev reach

The deal pushes SpaceX deeper into enterprise AI by combining massive compute, Grok models and Cursor’s coding platform under one company and strategy.
