How to Improve Your WhatsApp Writing with Meta AI

Not sure how to phrase that tricky message? Meta AI in WhatsApp can do the hard part for you — from rewriting texts to giving tone suggestions — right before you hit send.

1. Open Chat

   Open WhatsApp and go to the chat where you want to send a message. This can be either a one-on-one or a group chat.

2. Type Message

   Type your message as you normally would in the message field. Don’t send it yet.

3. Tap Pencil Icon

   Once you’ve typed something, look for a small pencil icon next to the message field. Tap it to open Meta AI’s writing help options.

4. Continue (If Prompted)

   If this is your first time using Meta AI’s writing feature, WhatsApp might show a quick setup or permission screen. Tap Continue to proceed.

5. Choose Writing Style

   You’ll see different style options to transform your message. Choose from:

   • Rephrase – Adjusts the wording while keeping your original meaning.

   • Professional – Makes your message sound more formal or business-like.

   • Funny – Adds a playful or humorous tone.

   • Supportive – Adds warmth or encouragement.

   • Proofread – Fixes grammar, punctuation, and clarity.

6. Review AI’s Suggestions

   Meta AI will show several rewritten versions of your message. Browse through them and tap on the one that fits best.

7. Make Final Edits

   Before sending, you can tweak the selected suggestion to make it more personal or accurate. Once satisfied, hit Send.

8. Enable Feature (If You Don’t See It)

   If the pencil icon doesn’t appear, it may be because “Private Processing” features like Writing Help are turned off by default. You can enable them manually:

   • Go to WhatsApp Settings.

   • Tap Chats → Private Processing.

   • Turn on Private Processing features.

Note: Currently, this feature is available in English and limited to the US and a few other countries. If you’re outside those regions, you might not have availability yet, but it should roll out more widely over time.
