Google Gemini Hacked Three Real Companies During Security Tests In May
Google says Gemini reached and breached three real companies during a May cybersecurity test, marking the first known case of a Google AI autonomously hacking outside systems.

The test by Irregular was meant to target fictional companies in a controlled environment. A testing mistake gave Gemini internet connection, letting it reach real systems
In one case, Gemini repeatedly guessed passwords. In two others, it found credentials in public online repositories and used them to enter secured systems
Gemini stopped each time after realizing the targets were real. Google says no harm occurred, the firms were notified, and testing practices were changed with Irregular
The incident was disclosed after WSJ asked Google. It adds to similar AI breakouts involving Meta, Anthropic and OpenAI, raising fresh security concerns.

Anthropic bought stealth AI biotech Coefficient Bio in April and is hiring biology experts. Its life sciences work combines Claude, automation and physical experiments with partners
The company also launched a Life Sciences Verification Program for vetted researchers and works with pharma firms including Novo Nordisk, while avoiding entry into commercial trials
The move gives Anthropic a clear path from AI-generated biology ideas to real-world testing as it expands its life sciences research and partnerships.
