Google Launches Gemini Mac App for Desktop AI Support

Google has launched a dedicated Gemini app for Mac, letting users summon a floating AI chat from anywhere on desktop with Option + Space, ask questions, and share live windows without breaking workflow flow.

Details:

• Before window sharing, Gemini asks for system permission, then reads what’s on screen to answer in context. The floating chat bubble keeps it ready from anywhere, making multitasking smoother

• The app mirrors Apple’s upgraded Spotlight feel and puts Google closer to OpenAI, Anthropic, and Perplexity. Still, ChatGPT and Claude go further with stronger computer task actions

• It also supports file, photo, and document uploads from Mac or Google Drive, plus image, video, and music generation. Past Google account chats sync in, following Windows’ rollout a day earlier

Available at no cost in all supported languages and countries, the Mac app works on macOS Sequoia 15.0 and later, strengthening Google’s desktop AI push.

How to Prepare Your Taxes Using AI-Powered TurboTax

TurboTax’s AI integrations with Claude and ChatGPT make tax prep easier by combining expert tax guidance with advanced AI. You can use it to estimate refunds, understand forms, and prepare documents before filing.

1. See what it helps with

   Intuit has partnered with Anthropic and OpenAI to combine TurboTax’s tax expertise with advanced AI. This helps users:

   • estimate refunds

   • understand forms before filing

2. Choose where you want to use it

   You can use TurboTax’s AI-powered tax help in either:

   • Claude, through the TurboTax Claude Connector

   • ChatGPT, through the Intuit TurboTax app

3. Set up TurboTax connector in Claude

   To start in Claude:

   • Sign in to your Claude account

   • Go to the left sidebar and tap Customize

   • Launch Connectors

   • Search for TurboTax

   • Press Connect

4. Start with Claude prompt

   Begin with a practical question that helps you prepare before filing.

   For example:

   “Can you help me understand which tax forms I’ll need for freelance income and deductions?”

5. Connect TurboTax app in ChatGPT

   The setup process in ChatGPT is very similar:

   • Sign in to ChatGPT

   • In the left sidebar, enter Apps

   • Search for Intuit TurboTax

   • Tap Connect Intuit TurboTax

6. Use better ChatGPT starter prompt

   Once connected, try a prompt focused on preparation.

   Example:

   “Help me create a checklist of the income statements, deduction records, and receipts I should collect before filing my taxes.”

Note: Gather your key documents first—income forms, deduction receipts, and prior-year returns—so the AI can help you more effectively.
