Google’s AI Agent to Transform Software Development Process

Google is building a specialized AI agent to transform software development, according to The Information. It’s expected to debut at the upcoming Google I/O conference.
Details:
The AI software agent is built to assist engineers throughout the entire development process, from handling tasks to documenting code, aiming to significantly improve developer productivity
Google has already showcased the tool to internal teams and select external developers, suggesting it’s in the final stages of development and could be released soon
In addition, Google may unveil integration between its Gemini AI in voice mode and Android XR devices, hinting at broader plans for AI-powered wearable technology
Ahead of its I/O conference on May 14, Google faces investor pressure to show returns on AI spending amid tough competition and more regulatory scrutiny of its search and ad businesses.

AI Facial Analysis (Even Selfie) Helps Scientists Predict Cancer Survival

Researchers have developed an innovative AI tool called FaceAge that analyzes patients' facial features to predict cancer survival outcomes, sometimes outperforming medical professionals' forecasts.
Details:
Scientists trained the deep learning model on 58,000 photos of healthy people, then tested it on 6,196 cancer patients. It found cancer patients often looked about five years older than their real age, with bigger gaps linked to lower survival rates
Clinicians could predict six-month survival in advanced cancer patients with 61% accuracy using photos alone. With FaceAge analysis, accuracy jumped to 80%, showing its strong clinical potential
Despite the promise, researchers note possible data biases. They’re testing on more diverse groups and exploring if the tool can predict other diseases and overall health
This breakthrough builds on research using aging biomarkers to predict disease. As Hugo Aerts of Mass General Brigham puts it, "A simple selfie contains important information"—pointing to a future where cancer care could start with a photo.

OpenAI Eliminates ChatGPTs Most Annoying Business Limitation with PDF Export

OpenAI has launched PDF export for Deep Research, letting users download full reports with formatting, images, and citations intact. While subtle, this move signals a deeper push toward enterprise users.
Details:
OpenAI announced on X that users can export Deep Research reports as well-formatted PDFs with images, tables, and citations. Available for Plus, Team, and Pro users, with Enterprise and Education coming soon
It follows the hiring of ex-Instacart CEO Fidji Simo to lead OpenAI’s "Applications" division, highlighting a focus on real-world business needs. PDF export solves a key pain point for professionals sharing research
Competing with tools like Perplexity, You(.)com’s ARI, and Claude, this feature makes Deep Research more practical—bridging advanced AI with everyday business communication
The rapid pace of updates signals a shift in AI development, prioritizing user experience and workflow integration over raw technical power.
