Figma, the popular collaborative design platform, has announced plans to use customer content for training its AI models, aiming to enhance its newly unveiled "Figma AI" features. This move, while potentially improving user experience, raises important questions about data privacy and intellectual property.

Figma AI includes features like automatic layer renaming, design generation from text prompts, and AI-enhanced asset search
The company plans to use user-generated content, including designs, comments, and usage data, to train its AI models
Users can opt out of content training, but the default setting varies by plan type
How to opt out:
Navigate to your team settings
Find the AI section
Toggle the "Content training" option off
Note: By default, content training is set to 'on' for Starter and Professional plans and 'off' for Organization and Enterprise plans. The opt-out setting won't take effect until August 15, 2024.
While Figma's approach may lead to more tailored AI tools, it also underscores the need for users to be aware of how their data is being used and to make informed decisions about their privacy preferences.
