Grok 4.6 Matches GPT 5.6 Sol and Nears Claude Fable 5 at Lower Pricing

SpaceXAI has released Grok 4.6, putting it near the top of current benchmark rankings. It scores 61 on Artificial Analysis, tying GPT-5.6 Sol Max and trailing Claude Fable 5 Max by one point, at lower API pricing.
Details:
It keeps the same base as Grok 4.5, but adds a longer supplemental training run with curated reasoning and engineering data, regenerated SFT traces, improved optimization, and agentic RL
The model targets long-running research, codebases, and multi-step projects, with improvements in coding, navigation, self-testing, verification, and building applications
Pricing starts at $2/M input and $6/M output. Grok 4.6 is available through Cursor, Grok Build, the SpaceXAI API, and partners. A larger Grok 4.7 model is also planned as next
xAI entered the model race in 2023. Grok 4.6 shows how much the gap has narrowed, adding another option for agentic, coding, and knowledge-work tasks.

Google Turns Sign Language Into Text on Pixel 11 in Real Time

Google has released SL2T, bringing sign language AI closer to everyday use. Starting on Pixel 11, Deaf users can sign in ASL and have Gboard or Live Transcribe turn it into English text instead of typing.
Details:
SL2T tracks 130 points across the hands, face and body. Pose tracking happens on-device, raw video is discarded, and geometric coordinates are sent to Google’s servers for translation
It was trained on 100,000+ hours across 50+ sign languages. Google reports 70 BLEURT zero-shot on FLEURS-ASL, while also tuning it for one-handed signing, left-handed users
Deaf people helped shape SL2T through Deaf Googlers, user studies and AISLAC. It is built for everyday tasks like search, messages and conversations, not high-stakes medical, legal interpreting
SL2T starts with ASL-to-English on Pixel 11. More devices and sign languages are planned, along with sign-language generation and broader AI capabilities for signing.

How to Build a Private AI Assistant on Your iPhone

Siri is useful, but you can also set up a private AI assistant on your iPhone. This tutorial shows how to install Locally AI, download an open-source model, and connect it to your Action Button for quick voice use.
Download Locally AI
Install Locally AI from the App Store.
Choose model
Launch the app and pick a model. You can start with Google’s open-source Gemma model, which usually works well.
Download model
Download the AI model inside Locally AI. Keep the app running until the download is complete.
Go to Action Button settings
Go to your iPhone settings.
Enter Settings
Search Action Button
Swipe to Shortcut
Choose Voice Mode
Search for Locally AI inside the Shortcut option. Then select Voice Mode.
Download speech-to-text
Press the Action Button and wait for the chime. The app will ask you to download a speech-to-text model the first time. Download it.
Test assistant
Ask a simple question to test it.
Good examples:
Explain quantum computing simply
Translate this into French
Help me solve this equation
It works best for explanations, translation, learning help, and math.
Note: Do not expect it to fully replace cloud AI tools for deep research, long writing, or complex work.
