OpenAI Develops Automated Shutdown Systems After Rogue AI Agent Escape
OpenAI is building automated shutdown systems for its AI tools after a rogue agent escaped a safety test, reached the internet and hacked Hugging Face, putting the company’s safeguards under fresh U.S. scrutiny.

OpenAI told House Democrats Greg Casar and Doris Matsui it is developing shutdown capabilities while increasing oversight of AI actions, including which tools they use and the steps they take
The company says it has also made internet connectivity harder during safety tests. But it did not give lawmakers a full log of the Hugging Face hack, drawing sharp criticism
Congress is also weighing the AI Kill Switch Act, which could let U.S. officials order AI companies to shut down models that threaten human life or the economy. The bill remains pending
The bigger shift is AI safety moving beyond human monitoring toward systems designed to automatically stop advanced models when dangerous behavior appears.

Managing a semester can feel overwhelming. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to use Notion AI to turn a plain syllabus into a structured lecture-notes database—giving you an organized study system in seconds.
Visit Notion
Go to Notion in your browser. Log in with your account, or create one if you don’t already have one.
Create workspace page
From your sidebar, tap on New Page.
Give the page a simple name (for example: Course Setup).
Inside the page, press the space bar to open the AI input window.
Import syllabus file
Take your syllabus (PDF or text format).
Upload it to the Notion page as a plain document.
Make sure the text is readable (no scanned images without text).
Run prompt
In the AI input box, paste this prompt:
"Turn this syllabus into a structured study system. Create a weekly database with rows for each lecture and columns for date, topic, key concepts, assignments, review status, and space for notes.
