Meta India Executive Joins OpenAI to Lead Southeast Asia Growth Effort

Meta’s India and Southeast Asia VP Sandhya Devanathan is leaving after a decade at the company to join OpenAI, as the AI firm expands across Asia-Pacific and Meta faces growing regulatory pressure in India.
Details:
Based in Singapore, Devanathan will report to APAC MD Kiran Mani and lead consumer growth, enterprise adoption, partnerships, and operations across Southeast Asia and Australia
Her move follows ex-Uber leader Prabhjeet Singh joining as OpenAI’s India head. OpenAI has offices in Singapore, Tokyo, Seoul, Sydney and Delhi; Meta India MD Arun will report to Benjamin Joe
Meta apologized after Instagram restricted a Modi post and India summoned Joel Kaplan. Officials also questioned alleged child-abuse ads; Meta says it removed them
Devanathan joined Meta in 2016, led APAC gaming and became India/Southeast Asia VP last June. Her exit adds another major leader to OpenAI’s regional push.

World First Brain Surgery Uses Live AI to Help Protect Patient Vision

UK surgeons have carried out the world’s first brain-tumour operation using live AI assistance. The UCL system watched the surgical video in real time, helping doctors avoid critical nerves and blood vessels.
Details:
Rhys Hibbert, 48, had an 11mm pituitary tumour found after a collapse and seizure in December 2024. It later caused hormone problems and peripheral vision loss, putting his sight at risk
Surgeons reached the tumour through his nose. The AI analysed the live camera feed, not just pre-op scans, and marked arteries, optic nerves and risky areas as surgeons stayed in control
Trained on hundreds of surgical videos, the UCL system runs on NVIDIA Clara IGX and was funded by NIHR and Google. The tumour was removed, vision improved, and larger trials are planned
AI acted as a second set of eyes, not the surgeon—spotting dangerous anatomy in real time while humans made every decision. It may make surgery safer.

How to Create a Research Report on Any Topic With AI

Most people use AI for quick answers, but STORM helps you go deeper. It can take one clear topic and turn it into a structured, Wikipedia-style report with sections, sources, and explanations you can actually use.
Launch STORM Research
Go to the STORM Research Platform in your browser. Create an account or log in if you already have one.
Start topic search
Enter your topic in the search bar. Make sure your topic is:
Specific
Clear
Easy to understand without extra context
Example:
Instead of: AI in business
Try: How small businesses use AI tools to automate customer support
Answer questions
STORM may ask follow-up questions before generating the report. For example, it may ask about your writing purpose or what angle you want the article to follow. Choose the answers that match your goal, such as:
Learning the topic
Creating research notes
Preparing a detailed article
Wait for report to generate
After you submit the topic and answers, the platform will start creating the article. This may take a few minutes because STORM gathers information, organizes it, and turns it into a Wikipedia-like report.
Review final article
Once the report is ready, read through it carefully. Check whether the article includes:
Useful explanations
Relevant sources
Updated info
Verify sources
Do not rely on the article blindly. Verify the sources used in the report and check whether the information is accurate, reliable, and recent enough for your topic.
Note: For a more interactive experience, switch to Co-STORM mode to start a roundtable-style conversation around the topic.
