Massive Job Cuts Expected As Meta Doubles Down On Generative AI

Meta is reportedly weighing major layoffs that could affect 20%+ of staff as it pushes deeper into generative AI. Meta denies the reports, but sources say leaders are already reviewing cuts to reduce infrastructure costs.
Details:
The possible 20% cut would be far bigger than past layoffs. It reflects Meta’s plan to spend heavily on AI infrastructure while relying on AI tools to let smaller teams do more
This shift comes from Mark Zuckerberg’s strong push into AI. It also follows fresh AI hires, deals like Moltbook and Manus, and a wider trend of tech firms using AI to run leaner teams
At the same time, Meta faces pressure to deliver results. Recent Llama 4 projects like Behemoth and Avocado have hit delays and performance issues, making the race more urgent
As Meta shifts toward superintelligence, potential layoffs reflect a wider tech push for AI efficiency at the cost of jobs.

Elon Musk Admits xAI Was Not Built Right the First Time

Elon Musk is rebuilding xAI from scratch, saying it was not built right the first time. With most co-founders gone and major staff cuts, the company is in a high-pressure fight to keep up with OpenAI and Anthropic.
Details:
xAI is going through a messy rebuild. It lost 11 senior engineers last month and brought in Tesla and SpaceX executives to review staff, though its huge compute power still attracts top talent
The company is focusing more on AI coding tools. Musk has admitted xAI is behind Claude Code and Codex, pushing it away from Grok’s viral growth strategy toward more practical products
Pressure is also rising from outside the company. As xAI ties more closely with SpaceX and Tesla, it must prove it can build a stable, revenue-generating business
Ultimately, Musk is expecting that aggressive consolidation and a narrower product focus will allow xAI to recover from its internal churn.
