Meta Unveils Ray Ban Audio Glasses Without Cameras Amid Privacy Fears

Meta has launched camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses as privacy pressure grows around wearable cameras. They keep AI, calls, music, podcasts and translation, but remove photo and video capture entirely at launch.

Details:

  • The glasses start at $349 and ship October 13. They come in Clubmaster and Burbank styles, weigh about 43g, support prescription lenses, and last up to 12 hours on one charge

  • They can play music and podcasts, handle calls, translate speech and connect to Meta’s Muse AI assistant. Meta says audio has been its most popular glasses feature since day one

  • Meta’s smart glasses sold over 7 million last year, but privacy concerns persist: the Audio pair records sound without a clear signal to bystanders, as lawsuits and venue bans also continue

The camera-free design cuts weight and boosts battery life, but analysts say audio recording still leaves consent concerns around privacy for users.

Anthropic Says Claude Found A Previously Uncharacterized Enzyme System

Anthropic says Claude’s biology lab identified a previously uncharacterized enzyme system in bacteriophages with DNA repeats reminiscent of CRISPR. Most of the discovery work was done by Claude.

Details:

  • Claude searched over 200,000 reverse transcriptases in 21 hours with about 950 agents and 210M tokens, flagging 3,500 candidates before narrowing them to 20 for deeper analysis

  • One agent spotted DNA repeats beside an unusual reverse transcriptase. Claude compared spacing and literature, then researchers identified array-associated reverse transcriptases, or ART

  • ART has a reverse transcriptase, partner gene and long repeat array. Lab tests found distinct short RNAs, but its primary function remains unknown and further experiments are underway

Dario Amodei called it work he’d be proud to do as a PhD student, but ART remains an early lead, not a proven gene-editing system.

Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads

Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:

After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.

The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.

“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”

Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.

How to Build an AI Agent That Monitors Your Competitors

Want to know what your competitors are doing without constantly checking their websites? Build an AI agent that monitors their updates, analyzes what changed, and sends you the key takeaways.

  1. Add Competitors

Create a list of 3–5 competitors and add their:

    • Homepage

    • Pricing page

    • Product pages

    • Blog or RSS feed

Keep the URLs in Google Sheets or your n8n workflow.

  2. Schedule Monitoring

Create an n8n workflow with a Schedule Trigger and run it daily.

Use a scraper or HTTP Request node to collect competitor pages, then add RSS or news sources for additional updates.

  3. Detect Changes

Save the latest page snapshot and compare it with the previous one.

    Track the:

    • Page content

    • Hash

    • Last checked time

Continue when a meaningful change is detected. This avoids sending unchanged pages to the AI.

  4. Have AI Analyze It

Send the old and latest content to your AI model with:

    Compare these competitor updates.

Find meaningful changes to pricing, products, features,

    offers, positioning, launches, and partnerships.

    For each change, explain:

    1. What changed

    2. Why it matters

    3. Potential business impact

    4. Recommended action

    Ignore cosmetic changes.

  5. Add News Monitoring

Track competitor names across Google News, RSS feeds, and relevant public discussions.

Combine those results with website changes before sending them to AI so the report has more context.

  6. Generate Intelligence Brief

Ask AI to turn the findings into:

Competitor → Change → Why it matters → Recommended action

Add an urgency level such as Low, Medium, High, or Critical.

  7. Send It Automatically

Send the final brief to Slack or email and save it to Google Sheets or Notion for historical tracking.

Note: Add competitor news and RSS feeds to catch launches, partnerships, funding, and major announcements.
