Meta

Meta Says Watermelon Has Caught Up With GPT 5.5 Benchmarks

Meta may have a serious AI contender. Its still-training model, codenamed Watermelon, reportedly matched GPT-5.5 on closely watched benchmarks. Big news, but not a public win until numbers are released.

Details:

  • Alexandr Wang reportedly told Meta employees that Watermelon has caught up with GPT-5.5. The catch: the exact benchmarks were not named, so this is still an internal claim

  • Watermelon is still being trained, and it reportedly uses an order of magnitude more compute than Muse Spark, Meta’s April model that was internally codenamed Avocado

  • Meta has not shared a launch timeline, and both Meta and OpenAI gave no extra confirmation. So the real test will be public release plus independent benchmarks

If this holds up, Meta could make the AI race much tighter. Watermelon looks promising, but until public benchmarks arrive, it remains an internal claim.

Scale AI support on AWS, see how July 9

Customer expectations keep rising. Support budgets don't. On July 9, Fin and AWS are hosting a live executive session on how leading enterprises close that gap: scaling AI-powered support while simplifying how they buy it.

You'll see how to resolve an average 76% of conversations with Fin on AWS enterprise-grade infrastructure, procure through AWS Marketplace to put committed cloud spend to work, and turn the Fin and AWS collaboration into lower support costs. Register for the live session to see how.

Anthropic

Anthropic May Team Up With Samsung On Custom AI Chips

Anthropic may be widening its AI hardware play. Reports say the Claude maker held early talks with Samsung on a custom chip, but its current stack still centers on Google TPUs, AWS Trainium, and Nvidia GPUs.

Details:

  • The Samsung idea is still early. Reports say Anthropic has not finalized the chip’s role, server design, or power target, so this is exploration, not a launch plan

  • The goal is optionality. A custom chip could help Anthropic reduce shortages, improve cost efficiency, and tune hardware more closely for Claude workloads

  • This does not replace its main stack. Anthropic says AWS Trainium, Google TPUs, and Nvidia GPUs remain key, with Amazon still its primary cloud and training partner

The bigger story: AI labs are moving from model races to compute control. Chips, clouds, and capacity may decide who scales next.

How to Activate Codex Mobile Control on Windows

The latest versions of Codex include mobile control functionality on Windows, but it isn't enabled by default. Here's how to activate the feature and connect your phone without installing any additional software.

  1. Enter Codex Settings

Launch the Codex app on Windows and go to Settings.

  2. Open config file

Under Configuration, tap on Open config.toml.

  3. Turn on remote control

Add the following lines to the file, then save it:

    [features]

    remote_control = true

  4. Find config file in Windows

Open the file location in Windows. It is usually here:

    C:\Users\[your username]\.codex

  5. Make file read-only

    Right-click config.toml and open Properties.

  6. Lock file changes

    In the Properties window:

    • Check the Read-only box

    • Press Apply

  7. Restart Codex

Close Codex completely, then open it again.

Your phone should be able to connect to Codex on Windows.

Note: If your phone cannot detect Codex after enabling the setting, make sure both devices are connected to the same network.

A stunning high-fashion advertisement photo of a young man — use the uploaded image as a reference for his face and likeness — with short tousled dark brown hair, holding an OPPO Find X9 Ultra smartphone in Moonlight Silver pressed against his cheek and jaw, with the phone's back facing the camera and prominently showcasing the large circular Hasselblad quad-camera system with the signature "H" logo. He is wearing a deep teal oversized hoodie, with his gaze directed slightly upward and off-camera, conveying a moody, introspective expression. The lighting is dramatic and cinematic with deep shadows on one side of the face and a sharp directional light illuminating his features, set against a dark charcoal background. The OPPO logo is clearly visible on the phone's Moonlight Silver glass back, rendered in ultra-sharp detail, 4K commercial photography quality, editorial fashion campaign style, professional color grading, and a luxury tech advertisement aesthetic, in portrait orientation at a 3:4 ratio.
