Nvidia Brings Personal AI Supercomputer to Your Desktop with DGX Spark

Nvidia is making AI development easier than ever with its latest DGX Spark “personal AI supercomputer.” This desktop powerhouse delivers data center performance to researchers, students, and developers, helping democratize high-end AI computing.
Details:
DGX Spark goes on sale Wednesday, October 15 via NVIDIA’s site and select US partners. Originally $3,000, it’s currently $3,999 to match major OEMs. Powered by the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, it delivers 128GB unified memory, up to 4TB NVMe SSD, and a petaflop of AI performance
Several PC makers including Acer, Asus, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, and MSI will launch their own Spark models. Acer’s Veriton GN100, also priced at $3,999, can run AI models with up to 200 billion parameters
CEO Jensen Huang said putting “an AI supercomputer on every desk” will empower data scientists, researchers, and students to shape the AI era. It marks a shift from costly, power-hungry data centers to powerful, compact desktop AI systems
The DGX Spark represents a pivotal moment in AI availability, bringing supercomputer-level performance to individual workspaces at a fraction of traditional costs.

Microsoft Unveils First In-House AI Image Generator MAI-Image-1

Microsoft has just entered the competitive AI image generation space with a bang, unveiling MAI-Image-1—their first fully in-house developed text-to-image generator that's already proving it can compete with industry leaders.
Details:
Microsoft built MAI-Image-1 with input from creative professionals to fix the repetitive, generic look common in many AI image tools. It specializes in photorealistic results, handling tricky details like lighting and landscapes
The model has already ranked in the top 10 on LMArena, a leading benchmark where humans vote on the best AI images. This recognition shows MAI-Image-1 can compete directly with top-tier systems
MAI-Image-1 is part of Microsoft’s push for AI independence, alongside tools like MAI-Voice-1 and MAI-1-preview. It reflects a shift away from heavy reliance on OpenAI as Microsoft builds its own models and integrates others, such as Anthropic
This launch signals Microsoft's determination to control their AI destiny rather than relying solely on external partnerships, positioning them as both collaborator and competitor.

How to Get Real-Time Answers from Gemini Live Using Your Voice

Gemini Live lets you ask Gemini questions about things you can see — both in the real world and on your device. Previously limited to Gemini Advanced users, it's available at no cost on any smartphone.
First, make sure you’ve installed the latest version of Google Gemini (Android) (iOS) on your device. Your phone (or tablet) should also be a fairly recent model.
Once installed, after opening the app, tap the Live icon (three stick-like lines) in the bottom-right corner of the Ask Gemini box.
Choose a voice.
You’ll then enter the main Gemini Live interface.
Here, you can use the pause button to put the mic on hold or tap the “X” to end the conversation.
To share your camera, press the Camera icon in the bottom-left corner.
Point it at the object you want to discuss, then ask your question.
Want to switch to the front-facing camera? Use the camera flip icon in the bottom corner of the image. Tap the Camera icon again to turn it off.
To share your screen, press the upward-facing arrow icon. Once you're on the screen you want to discuss, just ask your question aloud. Tap Share to stop screen sharing.
Here are some ways you can use Gemini Live:
Get feedback on your outfit before heading out — show Gemini what you’re wearing and ask for style suggestions.
Learn more about an object or plant by pointing your camera at it — Gemini can help identify it instantly.
Use it while cooking — show Gemini your ingredients and ask for quick recipe ideas or substitutions.
