Visual Ads Are Coming to ChatGPT Image Generation in the US

OpenAI is turning ChatGPT into a visual ad platform. With 1.2B weekly users, it will test sponsored imagery during image generation as it builds the creative, measurement and safety stack for AI-native advertising.

Details:

  • The test starts later this month in the U.S. with select advertisers. Visual ads will be labeled, kept separate from generated images and won’t influence ChatGPT’s AI answers

  • OpenAI is expanding Pixel/CAPI, attribution and incrementality, adding Hightouch, Tealium and LiveRamp integrations plus brand-suitability pilots with DoubleVerify

  • In India Razorpay Engage will help brands prepare catalogues and product feeds, launch, manage, measure and optimize ChatGPT Ads, using an AI agent with human oversight

OpenAI is building the targeting, creative, measurement and partner infrastructure needed to make ChatGPT an advertising channel.

AI Regulation

Sam Altman Says Society Must Accept Some AI Risks to Keep Its Benefits

Sam Altman says society should accept some bad outcomes if AI’s benefits remain broadly available. His published comments deepen the divide between OpenAI and Anthropic over how much AI risk society should tolerate.

Details:

  • Altman argues zero-risk AI is unrealistic and widespread use will create far more good than harm. He rejects keeping powerful AI in one lab just to prevent every misuse

  • He still draws a hard line around catastrophic danger. Scams, hacking and human misuse differ from loss-of-control scenarios where powerful AI could pose far greater risks

  • That is where OpenAI and Anthropic diverge. Altman says there is “a lot of daylight” between them, with Anthropic pushing stronger safeguards and OpenAI favoring a lighter touch

The bigger debate is clear: how much AI risk should society accept to preserve innovation, and where should regulators draw the line before risks become unacceptable?

Blu Dot surpasses 2,000% ROAS with self-serve CTV ads

Home furniture brand Blu Dot blew up on CTV with help from Roku Ads Manager. Here’s how:

After a test campaign reached 211,000 households and achieved 1,010% ROAS, the brand went all in to promote its annual sales event. It removed age and income constraints to expand reach and shifted budget to custom audiences and retargeting, where intent was strongest.

The results speak for themselves. As Blu Dot increased their investment by 10x, ROAS jumped to 2,308% and more page-view conversions surpassed 50,000.

“For CTV campaigns, Roku has been a top performer,” said Claire Folkestad, Paid Media Strategist, Blu Dot. “Comping to our other platforms, we have seen really strong ROAS… and highly efficient CPMs, lower than any other CTV partner we've worked with.”

Using Roku Ads Manager, the campaign moved from a pilot to a permanent performance engine for the brand.

AI Workflow

How to Automate Everyday Computer Work With Codex

Repeating the same downloads, file moves, and updates every week gets old quickly. With Codex, you can demonstrate a computer workflow once, turn it into a reusable skill, and let AI handle the repetitive parts.

  1. Open Codex

Open the ChatGPT desktop app and switch to Codex from the top-left menu.

Make sure Computer Use is available and enabled. This lets Codex interact with apps on your computer by seeing and typing.

  2. Pick One Repetitive Task

Start with something simple that follows almost the same steps every time.

    For example:

    • Downloading a weekly report

    • Renaming files

    • Moving files into folders

    • Updating a spreadsheet

    • Copying information between apps

Avoid starting with a complicated workflow that changes every time.

  3. Start Record & Replay

Inside Codex, open Record & Replay and start recording your workflow. Complete the task normally while Codex watches.

    For example:

    • Open the reporting website

    • Download the latest CSV

    • Rename the file

    • Move it into the correct folder

    • Open your spreadsheet

    • Add the latest numbers

Keep the recording focused on one task and avoid entering passwords or sensitive information while recording.

  4. Turn It Into a Skill

Finish the recording and let Codex convert the workflow into a reusable skill.

Review the steps it learned before using it again.

You can also tell Codex what should stay consistent.

    Example:

“Always download the newest report, rename it using date, move it into the Weekly Reports folder, and update the summary spreadsheet.”

  5. Test the Workflow

Give Codex a fresh version of the same task.

    For example:

“Run my weekly report workflow using the latest available data. Stop and ask me before sending or deleting anything.”

Watch the first few runs carefully and correct Codex if any step needs adjustment.

  6. Reuse It

Once the workflow works reliably, run the same skill whenever you need it instead of repeating every step yourself.

For supported recurring workflows, you can also use Codex automations to run repetitive work on a schedule.

Tip: Save Record & Replay for stable tasks you perform the same way again and again, which is the type of workflow OpenAI recommends it for.
