FBI Arrests OpenAI Engineer Over Secret Recording Device in Its Office

An OpenAI engineer has been arrested over an alleged attempt to secretly record confidential conversations in a San Francisco executive meeting room, exposing a very significant insider-security threat for the ChatGPT maker.
Details:
Prosecutors say Saudi engineer Abdulrahman Alfozan, 35, hid an encrypted recorder with mic and camera, wrapped in toilet paper, plugged into a TV's USB port. Placed Sept. 28; found Sept. 30
CCTV showed him near the restricted room. Investigators cite meeting-room searches and AI chatbot prompts about building and hiding recorders; a second device was found with his ID
OpenAI used its AI to trace the device, fired him, and alerted the FBI. Arrested Oct. 9, he was charged with illegal interception and faces 5 years and $250,000 fine if convicted
OpenAI says it saw no evidence of stolen model weights, source code or customer data. The FBI inquiry continues; his next court hearing is October 19.

What’s the key to maintaining brand integrity at scale? A lot goes into it, but the teams that get it right have one thing in common: they know how to talk to AI models.
As teams speed up and the required creative volume balloons, communication matters more than ever— both with LLMs, and with the people around you. Creative teams need to focus on ideas, concepts, craft, while technology augments their manual execution demands.

Mukesh Ambani's Jio Eyes $108 Billion Valuation for Telecom and AI IPO

Mukesh Ambani's Jio Platforms has filed its updated prospectus for India's largest-ever IPO. The Reliance-owned telecom, cloud and AI business aims to raise up to $3.2 billion at a $108.3 billion valuation.
Details:
Jio will issue 270 million fresh shares priced at ₹1,065–₹1,119 each. Anchor bidding starts October 19, public subscription runs October 21–23, and listing is expected on October 28
Up to $2.89 billion will repay telecom unit debt; the rest funds general needs and capital spending. Shares worth ₹500 crore are reserved for staff and ₹2,500 crore for Reliance investors
Jio has 533 million subscribers and carries 60% of India's data traffic. Meta and Google are backers; the prospectus warns privacy and telecom rules could restrict ads and digital revenue
Jio raised over $20.5B in 2020. It could become India's fourth-largest listed company, surpassing Hyundai's record $2.9B IPO from 2024.

How to Make a Phone-Based AI Assistant That Answers Your Calls

Ever wanted an AI assistant you can actually call? In this tutorial, you’ll build one with its own phone number using ElevenLabs and Twilio, make a real test call, and have it answer using your website, calendar, and more.
Create voice agent
In ElevenLabs, go to Agents → New Agent → Personal Assistant. Choose a voice, set your time zone, and add your first greeting message.
Example first message:
“Hi, this is your assistant. Tell me what you need and I’ll help you.”Add knowledge sources
Inside the agent settings, connect the information you want the assistant to use:
Your website
Your calendar
Set assistant’s behavior
Add a short instruction so it stays helpful and accurate.
Example instruction:
“Answer using my website and calendar. If you’re unsure, ask one question. Don’t guess.”Create Twilio account
Go to Twilio and create an account. You should have complimentary credits to test.
Buy Twilio phone number
In Twilio, buy a phone number (typically around $1). From the dashboard, copy these:
Phone number
Account SID
Auth Token
Import number into ElevenLabs
In ElevenLabs, go to Phone Numbers → Import from Twilio. Paste your SID, auth token, and phone number, then assign the number to your agent.
Call and test it
Call the number and test a few real questions like “What’s on my calendar?” or “What do we offer?” based on what you added to the agent’s knowledge base.
Note: Add the most useful pages from your website, not everything. Too much info can make answers messy.
