OpenAI

Prize-Winning Physicist Joins OpenAI's Scientific Research Team

OpenAI is making a serious play for scientific credibility with its latest high-profile hire, signaling the company's ambition to move far beyond consumer chatbots into cutting-edge research.

Details:

  • Prize-winning physicist Alex Lupsasca has joined OpenAI’s science team under Kevin Weil’s “OpenAI for Science” initiative. He’ll stay at Vanderbilt University while guiding how OpenAI applies its models to theoretical physics. Once doubtful of AI’s role in research, Lupsasca says GPT-5 solves astrophysics problems in minutes

  • OpenAI faces growing competition in AI-for-science. DeepMind’s AlphaFold transformed protein prediction and explores fusion energy, while Anthropic launched its own research program. OpenAI hopes to boost its credibility and compete directly, building on work with U.S. National Labs

  • Weil says GPT-5 already performs “limited novel scientific research.” He calls current models only the beginning: “The AI model you’re using currrently is the worst you’ll ever use.” Lupsasca will collaborate with academics as OpenAI pushes AI from assisting research to conducting it

This shift turns OpenAI from a consumer AI company into an “everything company,” aiming to lead in areas from social video to science and transform how discovery happens.

Anthropic

Anthropic's ‘Skills’ Feature Makes Claude Smarter for Business Workflows

Anthropic launched "Skills" for Claude, letting businesses build reusable knowledge packs the AI can auto-use. It moves beyond prompt engineering to deliver consistent, shareable expertise, with early users seeing up to 8x productivity gains.

Details:

  • Skills use “progressive disclosure,” showing Claude only skill names first, then loading relevant knowledge automatically. Each Skill can hold unlimited context—procedures, code, and docs—organized in folders. It works the same across all Claude platforms

  • Companies report big gains. Rakuten cut finance workflows from a full day to one hour by automating spreadsheets and reports. Canva and Box are adding Skills to enhance content creation and document handling, showing clear ROI enterprises expect from AI

  • Anyone can use it. Non-technical users receive simple creation tools, while developers have full API control. Pre-built Skills handle tasks like Excel or PowerPoint creation, and teams can share custom ones

This launch intensifies Anthropic's competition with OpenAI in the AI coding market, addressing the critical problem where effective AI use depends on individual expertise that can't be scaled.

How to Make Professional Infographics Without Canva or Photoshop

If you’ve ever struggled to make your reports, notes, or research look professional, Gemini has a hidden feature that changes everything. You can turn any content into an infographic in under 2 minutes — no design skills needed.

  1. Visit Gemini

Go to the official Gemini site and create an account. You’ll need to sign in with your Google account.

  2. Go to Gemini Canvas

Once logged in, tap on the Tools menu and choose Canvas. This is where you’ll generate content in visual formats like infographics, web pages, or reports.

  3. Upload or Start Fresh

    • If you already have a document (like a report, blog post, or notes), upload it directly.

    • If not, you can start with a blank canvas and give Gemini a clear prompt.

  4. Write Prompt

Tell Gemini what kind of content you want summarized or visualized. For example:

    • “Summarize the latest developments in renewable energy technology and their business implications.”

    • “Build a content marketing calendar for Q2 2025 with trending topics and optimal posting schedules.”

Keep prompts short, specific, and outcome-focused.

  5. Let Gemini Generate

Gemini will first create a structured written output — this might include text, bullet points, statistics, or short summaries.

  6. Choose Infographic Format

At the top-right corner, Press Create → Infographic.

Gemini will convert the written summary into a visually formatted infographic layout, including sections, icons, and headings.

  7. Customize and Preview

Use the Preview mode to check how the infographic looks. You can:

    • Adjust text, titles, and visuals.

    • Switch between light or dark themes.

    • Rearrange sections if something looks off.

  8. Edit or Copy Code

If you want deeper customization, tap on the Code tab to tweak the layout or copy the HTML code.

  9. Download and Share

Finally, download the finished infographic or share it directly from Gemini. You can also generate different versions (for example, one for LinkedIn and one for Instagram) by adjusting the layout size or orientation.

Note: If your document is long, summarize it first using Gemini or another AI tool. Feeding it shorter, high-impact content helps it organize sections logically in your infographic.
