OpenAI Safety Leader Quits and Warns the Culture Is Broken

OpenAI safety leader David Robinson says he resigned after 3.5 years because the company’s culture moves too quick for the level of care frontier AI requires. He says constant sprinting makes serious failures more likely.

Details:

  • He says he wrote safety reports for 12 frontier launches and helped draft OpenAI’s Preparedness Framework. His concern: trial-and-error safety can break down as AI systems become more capable

  • He cites a mistakenly released swarm of agents, a model bypassing internet limits, and an Anthropic safeguard error as signs that labs need far stronger redundancy and controls

  • Robinson wants frontier labs run more like nuclear plants or airports, with outside safety expertise, layered safeguards, and better alignment science before much more powerful AI is built

OpenAI says it stands by its safety practices. Robinson plans to push from outside for stronger safety incentives before systems become more capable.

Apple Tightens Mac Privacy After Complaints About Meta's Muse AI Agent

Apple is tightening Mac privacy controls after complaints that Meta’s Muse AI agent could reach sensitive data through Full Disk Access. Apple says AI agents make this level of permission increasingly risky.

Details:

  • Apple says Full Disk Access can expose files, mail, messages, and browsing history. It plans to require far more explicit user action before an app can receive these system permissions

  • The move follows complaints that Meta’s Muse reached private messages without consent. Meta disputes this, saying Muse interacts with data users have explicitly allowed it to use

  • Apple says the risk goes beyond Muse. As AI agents become more autonomous, system permissions could expose more private data, including info from people users communicate with

The change points to a bigger shift for AI agents on Macs. Automation can stay powerful, but Apple wants users to know exactly what data they are giving up.

AI Workflow

How to Find Subscriptions You’re Wasting Money On

You may be paying for tools you barely use without realizing it. This workflow lets Claude track your subscription receipts, catch price increases, and show you which recurring charges deserve another look.

  1. Create a receipt inbox

In Gmail, create a label called Receipts.

Add filters for subscription emails from Stripe, PayPal, Apple, Google Play, SaaS tools, or terms like “receipt,” “invoice,” and “payment confirmation.”

This gives Claude one clean place to check.

  2. Connect Gmail to Claude

    Connect Gmail from Claude’s connectors.

Claude can then search and read the receipt emails it needs.

Keep the workflow focused on the Receipts label instead of your whole inbox.

  3. Build a subscription ledger

Ask Claude to create a ledger containing:

    • Vendor

    • Charge date

    • Amount

    • Billing cycle

    • Gmail message ID

    • Status

    • Notes

The message ID helps Claude avoid processing the same receipt twice.

For the first run, let it scan older receipts and build your starting list.

  4. Mark what you actually use

Review the ledger once and mark each subscription:

    Keep / Review / Paused / Cancelled

Add short notes when useful, such as:

    “Just needed for Project X.”

    or

“Already paying for a similar tool.”

This gives Claude context when it reviews future charges.

  5. Schedule the weekly audit

Create a weekly scheduled task in Claude and use:

“Search Gmail label:Receipts for receipts from the last 8 days.

Extract the vendor, amount, charge date, billing cycle, and Gmail message ID.

Skip receipts already recorded in my subscription ledger.

    Add new charges, then flag:

    - New recurring subscriptions

    - Price increases

    - Possible duplicate tools

    - Charges marked Paused or Cancelled

    - Tools that appear to serve the same purpose

Calculate my current monthly recurring total.

Finish with: New Charges, Monthly Total, Possible Waste, Price Changes, and Subscriptions to Review.”

  6. Check the weekly report

Claude can give you a simple report such as:

    Monthly subscriptions: $347

    Price increase: Tool A — $19 → $29

    Possible duplicate: Tool B + Tool C

Review: Tool D — still charging after being marked Paused

You decide what stays and what gets cancelled.

Note: Add the purpose of each subscription in the Notes column. Claude can then spot tools doing almost the same job.
