SoftBank Explores $100B AI Data Center Project In France

SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son is in talks with Emmanuel Macron for a major AI data center project in France, with Bloomberg reporting a possible investment of up to $100B as part of SoftBank’s AI infrastructure push.

Details:

• The project could be unveiled in the coming weeks, possibly around the Choose France Summit. It focuses on AI infrastructure as global demand for generative AI data centers keeps rising

• Bloomberg says Son floated up to $100B, but the final amount may be lower if SoftBank chooses other projects first. Reuters says details are still changing and it could not verify the report

• This fits SoftBank’s wider AI strategy. It invested over $30B in OpenAI, joined the $500B Stargate data center plan with OpenAI and Oracle, and backed ABB robotics plus DigitalBridge

France could become a stronger AI infrastructure hub if this moves forward, but the final deal size, timing, and scope are still uncertain.

   • Go to the left sidebar and tap Customize

   • Launch Connectors
