OpenAI is stepping into social media with Sora, a TikTok-style app launched alongside its upgraded video model, Sora 2.

Details:

• Sora 2 improves on earlier models by making videos more natural, avoiding glitches like objects suddenly appearing or disappearing, and handling complex movements more realistically

• A key feature is cameos, where users can upload a short video and audio sample to let the AI generate clips starring them. Friends can also be granted the permission to use each other’s cameos for collaborative content

• The app offers a personalized feed based on user activity, location, and chats, with the option to turn personalization off. Safety controls include parental oversight and tools to manage how your likeness is used

GLM 4.6 Emerges as a Strong Rival to DeepSeek and Sonnet 4

Zhipu AI has launched GLM-4.6, a significant upgrade to its open-source language model. With improvements in context size, reasoning, and coding ability, it aims squarely at rivals like DeepSeek and Claude Sonnet series.

Details:

• GLM-4.6 supports a 200,000-token context window, enabling it to process much longer passages of text in a single session. At the same time, Zhipu claims it maintains better efficiency compared to its predecessor, GLM-4.5

• In tests, GLM-4.6 shows marked improvements in logical reasoning and coding performance. While it surpasses models like DeepSeek on many benchmarks, it still trails slightly behind Claude Sonnet 4 in the area of code generation

• In direct model comparisons, GLM-4.6 wins about 48.6 % of the time against Sonnet 4 in real-world tasks — a close match, especially for an alternative. This suggests it’s positioning itself as a serious contender in the open model arena

With GLM-4.6 pushing the envelope in scale, reasoning, and practical performance, Zhipu is signaling that it wants to be more than just another open-source model.
