Chinese Scientists Build Light-Powered AI Chip That Beats Nvidia by 100×

Chinese researchers unveiled “LightGen,” an optical computing chip reported in Science that uses light instead of electrons and outperforms Nvidia’s A100 by over 100×. The laser-based design aims to bypass electronic limits and sharply reduce the energy demands of modern AI.

Details:

• Packed with over 2 million photonic neurons on a compact 136.5 sq mm die, the chip uses unique “optical latent space” design. This architecture works like a light highway, compressing and rebuilding data at high speed

• Tests show computing speeds of 3.57×10⁴ TOPS with an energy efficiency of 6.64×10² TOPS per watt. These gains sharply cut time and power use, making it far more efficient than current market leaders

• To solve tasks that once challenged optical systems, the team created an unsupervised training method. It removes the need for large labeled datasets and lets the chip generate high-quality images, videos, and 3D scenes on its own

1. Launch ChatGPT

2. Use Canvas tool

   In the message editor, type / to open the tools menu. From the list, select Canvas for a split-screen workspace.

3. Start resume with prompt

   Paste a prompt that clearly defines the role, experience level, and structure you want. For example:

   “Create a one-page resume for a digital marketing specialist with 4 years of experience in SaaS. Include sections for professional summary, core skills, work experience, and education. Keep the layout simple, readable, and ATS-friendly with concise bullet points.”

4. Let Canvas generate draft

   Once you submit the prompt, Canvas launches automatically. Your resume will appear on the left side, already structured into sections and formatted cleanly.

5. Review structure before wording

   Before editing text, scan the overall structure.
