OpenAI Poaches Replit's $100M Annual AI Deal From Anthropic

OpenAI landed a deal worth over $100 million a year by persuading Replit to move most of its AI spending away from Anthropic. Its weapon? A discount of more than 30%, according to The Information's report.
Details:
Replit, once among Anthropic's five largest customers, planned to stay. But Anthropic tied renewal of its discount to a bigger spending commitment, opening the door for OpenAI
The shift isn't a full break: OpenAI is currently Replit Agent's preferred provider, while users can still choose Claude. CEO Amjad also pointed to performance and their partnership
Replit switched its underlying code in hours and updated products in days. Rippling has already moved more coding work to OpenAI, and DataCamp says it was offered a 40% discount
The message is clear: AI labs aren't just competing on intelligence anymore. They're fighting for customers on price, even if discounts dent profits.

Jack Dorsey's Voice AI Can Laugh, Cry, and Sound Just Like a Human

Jack Dorsey’s Block just unveiled Dessa, a voice AI that can laugh, sound close to tears, and hold conversations that feel surprisingly human. It doesn't just answer questions—it reacts with emotion, timing, personality.
Details:
Unlike typical voice assistants, Dessa listens and speaks at the same time. It can interrupt, respond mid-sentence, and add natural pauses or little acknowledgments
Block says Dessa was trained from scratch on human conversation, without text or pretrained models. Its demos show laughter, emotional shifts, even near-crying - generated from audio
Despite its capabilities, Block says Dessa can run locally on high-end consumer hardware, including a MacBook Pro with an M4 Max chip or better. These claims are independent
Dessa isn't publicly available yet. Block is inviting a small group of AI safety researchers to test it first, and hasn't announced a launch date yet.

The AI notetaker that gets the hard words right
Your AI is only as good as what you feed it. Feed it a transcript with your product names, acronyms, and numbers spelled wrong, and you spend the afternoon hand-fixing the output.
Wispr Flow Notetaker uses your dictionary and calendar, so product names, acronyms, numbers, and uncommon names come out spelled right. It pops up when your meeting starts and captures Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, and Slack huddles with one click, no bot joining the call.
Then your meetings show up inside Claude or ChatGPT through the built-in connector. No copy paste. Try Notetaker free on Mac and Windows.
