How to Run Powerful AI on Your Phone Without Internet
Want to run powerful AI directly on your phone without paying or signing up for anything? This guide shows you how to set up Google’s latest local AI models so they work fully offline, right on your device.
Install App
Download Google AI Edge Gallery from your device’s app store (App Store for iOS or Google Play for Android), then enter it once installed.
Launch AI Chat
Launch the app and go to the AI Chat section to use available models.
Download Model
Pick a model from the list and download it. For example:
Gemma 4 E2B (about 2.5 GB)
Other models may vary in size and performance
Wait until the download is fully complete.
Turn on Thinking Mode
After the model is ready, tap the settings icon in the top-right corner and enable Thinking mode. This allows the model to show step-by-step reasoning in its responses.
Start Chatting
Go back to the chat screen and begin using the AI. It runs directly on your device without needing any further setup.
Use It Offline
Once everything is set up:
No internet connection is required
All processing happens locally on your phone
Know Limitation
Keep this in mind while using the app:
Chat history is not saved
Closing a conversation deletes it permanently
You can tap the + button to view messages from the current session
Note: Your first message after opening the app may take longer—this is normal as the model loads into memory.
