Tech Layoffs Are Rising as Companies Cut Jobs and Increase AI Spending
Monday .com is cutting more than 600 jobs as it restructures around AI. It joins a much bigger 2026 trend where tech companies are shrinking teams, flattening management and redirecting money toward AI.

Monday .com, Microsoft, Oracle and GitLab announced major cuts while shifting resources toward AI products, infrastructure, quicker teams and fresh operating models
Google, Intuit, Meta and Cisco also reduced headcount, with Meta cutting 8,000 roles while moving roughly 7,000 employees into AI positions
Cloudflare, GM, Coinbase and PayPal are shrinking teams too, while using AI to reduce repetitive work and speed development
Snap, IBM and Atlassian explicitly linked AI to changing workforce needs. IBM is also expanding entry-level hiring for AI and hybrid-cloud roles
Dell, Block and Salesforce made major cuts as well. Block dropped 4,000 jobs, while Salesforce says AI agents reduced the need to refill support roles
