AI-generated content has resurrected a defunct Apple blog, TUAW (The Unofficial Apple Weblog), in a controversial manner that has shocked former writers and raised ethical concerns about AI's use in digital publishing.

Details:

The TUAW domain was acquired by Web Orange Limited, which has populated it with AI-generated content mimicking the style of original articles.
Former TUAW writers discovered their names and likenesses being used without permission, with AI-generated profile photos accompanying new articles they didn't write.
After complaints, the site changed bylines to fictitious names but continued to publish AI-generated content based on archived material.

This incident highlights the growing problem of AI-generated content misuse, including identity theft and copyright infringement.
