Google has launched Gemini 2.5 Pro Preview (I/O edition), an upgraded AI model, ahead of its annual developer conference. This comes as competition heats up with OpenAI and xAI preparing their own advanced models.

Details:

• The model leads several benchmarks, topping the WebDev Arena Leaderboard for app creation and scoring 84.8% on the VideoMME benchmark for video understanding

• Google has enhanced coding features, improving code transformation, editing, and web app development while reducing errors and boosting trigger rates based on feedback

• The model is available via the Gemini API, Vertex AI, AI Studio, and the Gemini app for web and mobile, with the same pricing as its predecessor

Mistral AI has launched its Mistral Medium 3, offering high-end performance at a more affordable price. The French startup claims it matches the capabilities of much more expensive rivals.

Details:

• Mistral Medium 3 costs $0.40 per million input tokens and $2 per million output tokens. It outperforms Meta’s Llama 4 and Cohere’s Command A, matching 90% of Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 3.7. Runs on any cloud or self-hosted with 4 GPUs

• The model specializes in coding and STEM, with beta testers in finance, energy, and healthcare using it for customer service and automation. Enterprises can customize it

• Mistral also launched Le Chat Enterprise, an AI chatbot with integrations like Gmail and SharePoint. It will soon support MCP for connecting AI to systems

Founded in 2023 with €1.1 billion (roughly $1.24 billion) in funding from investors including General Catalyst, Mistral continues expanding its AI portfolio.
