xAI Wins Federal Contract to Supply Grok Chatbot to US Agencies

Elon Musk's xAI has secured a significant federal contract to provide its Grok chatbot to U.S. government agencies, marking another major step in Washington's push to integrate artificial intelligence into federal operations.

Details:

  • xAI struck a deal with the U.S. General Services Administration that runs through March 2027. The agreement gives agencies use of Grok models at just 42 cents per organization—much cheaper than OpenAI’s $1 annual fee. The contract covers xAI’s top reasoning models, Grok 4

  • The deal is part of GSA’s “OneGov Strategy,” launched in April to standardize government tech procurement and boost AI adoption. Agencies can upgrade to Grok enterprise subscriptions with stronger security, more features, and higher usage limits

  • Critics question Grok’s reliability and safety. Reports show the system sometimes produces false information, biased commentary, and offensive language. Advocacy groups point to conspiracy-like claims and other problematic outputs, questioning AI safeguards and its suitability for government

Google's Latest AI Models Let Robots Search the Web and Learn From Each Other

Google has unveiled a breakthrough in robotics AI that could redefine how robots interact with the world. These models go beyond simple commands — they can plan ahead, search the web, and even teach each other skills across different platforms.

Details:

  • Gemini Robotics 1.5 and Robotics-ER 1.5 models are a major step up from the March releases. They let robots perform complex, multi-step tasks with real problem-solving. Instead of handling one command at a time, these systems think ahead — sorting laundry by color, packing bags with live weather data, or separating waste using local recycling rules found online

  • The system uses two models. Robotics-ER 1.5 scans the environment and searches the web, then translates results into natural instructions for Robotics 1.5 to carry out

  • The upgrades also unlock cross-platform learning. Skills trained on one robot transfer to others. DeepMind showed how tasks learned on the ALOHA2 robot worked right away on the Franka arm and Apptronik’s humanoid Apollo

Robots are moving from basic tasks to real intelligence. DeepMind is releasing Robotics-ER 1.5 via the Gemini API, while Robotics 1.5 remains limited to select partners.

  1. Plan your app

    Write down:

    • Who it’s for

    • The one job it should do

    • What data you need to store

    • One AI feature you want

    • How you’ll know it’s successful

    Example prompt for your builder:

    “Build a simple web app for [audience] that does [job]. It should have: login, a table with [fields], add/edit/delete rows, and one AI action [describe]. Make it responsive, clean, and easy to use.”

  2. Create base

    → Paste your prompt into an AI site/app builder

    → Accept the starter app it gives you

    → Ask it to add navigation, a header, and a settings page

  3. Add login

    Choose Google sign-in or an email magic link. Restrict permissions so only logged-in users can view it.

  4. Set up database

    → In Supabase, make a table leads with: id, user_id, name, company, email, notes, status, ai_summary, created_at

    → Connect the app to Supabase with your URL + key

  5. Build interface

    → Show leads in a table (Name, Company, Email, Status)

    → Add search + filter by status

    → Add a form to create/edit leads

    → Show details with AI output

  6. Add AI summary

  8. Secure it

    Enable Row Level Security in Supabase (each user only sees their data.) Always check inputs on the server. Add limits so AI actions can’t be spammed.

  9. Deploy

    Deploy to Vercel (or your builder’s platform)

    → Add your database + AI keys

    → Test: login, create lead, run AI actions

Note: Keep your connection strings and API keys safe. Store them in environment variables and avoid pasting them in public places; losing them can cause serious security risks.
