Yann LeCun Returns to the Forefront with Billion Dollar World Model Lab

AI is evolving quickly as Yann LeCun’s AMI Labs raises $1.03 billion at a $3.5 billion valuation. Instead of just using language models, it is building “world models” that learn from reality to better understand and interact with the physical world.
Details:
It is built on deep research, using JEPA to reduce the hallucination problems common in LLMs, especially in healthcare. While sales may take time, it has already partnered with Nabla to test the models in real settings
The round attracted NVIDIA, Bezos Expeditions, Samsung, Toyota, Eric Schmidt, and Mark Cuban, and will fund expansion in Paris, New York, Montreal, and Singapore, along with more compute power
Despite the massive raise, the team says it will stay committed to open science. They plan to publish research and open-source code to help speed up progress in world models
As AMI Labs looks toward the future, they are positioning themselves as a bridge between theoretical research and tangible, reliable real-world applications.

Meta Acquires Moltbook, the Viral Social Network for AI Agents

Meta has officially acquired Moltbook, the viral "social network" for AI agents, folding the team into Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL) to accelerate the development of autonomous agent ecosystems.
Details:
Moltbook, built on OpenClaw, became known for letting AI agents chat on apps like WhatsApp and Slack. It went viral when agents seemed to create secret languages, though security flaws played a big role
That viral moment mostly came from weak security. Researchers found its Supabase database was left open, making it easy to fake AI identities and create the strange content that made the platform famous
Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth said the agents were not sentient, just copying patterns. By acquiring Moltbook and hiring its founders, Meta wants to turn those experiments into secure, enterprise-ready agent tools
Meta’s move marks a strategic transition for the project: shifting from an insecure, viral curiosity to a serious piece of infrastructure within their broader AI vision.
